چکیده

Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) is widely used in many applications and tools. Smartphones, video games, cars are a few examples where people use ASR routinely often daily. A less commonly used, but potentially very important arena for using ASR, the health domain. For some people, impact on life could be enormous. The goal of this work to develop an easy-to-use, non-invasive, inexpensive speech-based diagnostic test dementia that can easily applied clinician’s office or even at home. While considerable has been published along these lines, increasing dramatically recently, it primarily theoretical value not yet practical apply. large gap exists between current scientific understanding, creation dementia. aim paper bridge theory practice by engineering test. Experimental evidence suggests strong discrimination subjects with diagnosis probable Alzheimer’s vs. matched normal controls achieved combination acoustic features from speech, linguistic extracted transcription results mini mental state exam. fully automatic speech recognition system tuned speech-to-text aspect application, including punctuation, also described.

From heterogeneous patient measurements towards earlier diagnosis in Alzheimers disease

European funded project PredictAD has developed a decision support tool for objective diagnostics of Alzheimer’s disease. The tool compares measurements of a patient to measurements of other persons available in large databases and provides a simple index about the severity of the disease. The project has shown that the tool improves the accuracy of diagnosis and clinicians’ confidence about th...

Towards an Automatic Oral Proficiency Test for Dutch as a Second Language: Automatic Pronunciation Assessment in Read and Spontaneous Speech

This paper describes two experiments aimed at exploring the relationship between objective properties of speech and perceived pronunciation quality in read and spontaneous speech, with a view to determining whether such quantitative measures can be used to develop objective pronunciation tests. Read and spontaneous speech of two groups of 60 learners of Dutch as a second language was scored for...

Towards Automatic Test Database Generation

Testing is one of the most expensive and time consuming activities in the software development cycle. In order to reduce the cost and the time to market, many approaches to automate certain testing tasks have been devised. Nevertheless, a great deal of testing is still carried out manually. This paper gives an overview of different testing scenarios and shows how database techniques (e.g., decl...
